Pretty Tricky Games is a small and independent Australian online retailer. It was founded in 2026 and specialises in imported and independent games from across the world. There is a large focus on small box card games and trick-takers.

PTG is a passion project designed to grow the gaming community. We hope to do this by getting weird, wonderful, and hard to find games into people’s hands and creating inclusive and engaging events for all people.

The store is owned and operated solely by David Haar – a long time gamer and local of Melbourne.

How We Get The Goods

PTG sources games from a variety of places including directly through publishers and independent designers. We are lucky enough to have connections and communications with Travel-Games (UK), Silvergun Games (Korea), Jupiters Club (Kor…I mean Jupiter), Hisashi Hayash (Japan), Odd Candy (USA), Hiroken (Japan), and Taylor Reiner (U.S.A.). Games are also purchased directly from Game Markets, from international sellers, and through secondhand channels.

The PTG Community

  • PTG provides direct support to the Melbourne Board Games & Gatherings Meetup. We are also on Aftergame running events every fortnight. This includes our trick-taking event, Tricky Tuesday (Northcote) and our monthly Meek and Geek (Clayton)! Come join us for a game and meet some new people.
  • Join our Discord for the latest PTG news and information relating to our releases. As the community grows, we hope to foster discussions, games sessions, and more.
  • You can also follow PTG on Instagram to keep up with new game drops and news too.

About Dave

I am a trick-taking sicko. I love exploring new games and playing them with my friends and the game groups I run. Some of my fondest memories come from this hobby.

PTG was created to share these experiences (and those harder to find games too)! My dream is to share unique designs from across the world and grow the gaming community.

About Victoria & Kanako

Victoria the platypus and Kanako the Yokai show a connection between Australia and Japan – our largest import region. They are weird and wonderful – just like the games we stock.

The logo was created by the amazingly talented @SaiBeppu – a beloved artist in the gaming community. Please, show her some love and check her out.

We are frequently finding and releasing new games.
