Time Palatrix is an acclaimed Japanese trick-taking board game designed by Taiki Shinzawa. It is most famous for its unique time-travel mechanic where players play cards simultaneously across three tricks representing the Past, Present, and Future. The game was re-implemented to Ghosts of Christmas. Time Palatrix is played over a series of rounds where players bid on how many tricks they expect to win over three simultaneous tricks.
Each player has a mat with three spaces representing Past, Present, and Future. As turns progress, you play cards to any of these three tricks in the order you choose.
The first card played in a specific time period sets the suit, and other players must follow suit for that specific trick.
You can play cards out of order to manipulate which card wins, and winning a trick in one time period can impact your strategy for future tricks.
